Okay, so I'm not a blogger.

Or a Twitterer (Tweeter? Chick? Birdbrain?)

But maybe I'll post once in a while. Bring back blogs and lose FB, yes?

(Anyone remember when Xanga was SUPER cool?)

(the maine attraction)

So, what's the story behind The Maine Attraction? It's a tale of gnomes, hammocks, Norway and wonderful family time. All set in the beautiful surroundings of Northern Maine.

Bailey Island is one of the places that holds great childhood memories for my dad - he lived in Northern Maine for a few years as a small child, and still keeps in touch with his old babysitter who lives in Brunswick. So, when we found a little vacation rental on the shore of Bailey Island, it seemed like the perfect place for a family vacation.

But this wasn't any ordinary vacation home with seashells, funky colored towels and beachballs - this place had character! It's owned by a fun Norwegian couple who are very proud of their ancestry. From the Norwegian flag overlooking the beach to the gnomes in the yard, this vacation home was clearly a safe haven for wandering Scandinavians.

My treasury is based on the fun time we had on Bailey Island. The cobblestone bridge, the Norwegian trinkets, the gnomes and otters - oh, how I love Maine.
